Validation Intern


Job Description

As a Silicon Validation Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of our dynamic engineering team, responsible for ensuring the reliability, functionality, and performance of our cutting-edge silicon products. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the validation process of semiconductor devices, working alongside experienced engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the development and execution of validation plans for new silicon products, including CPUs, GPUs, ASICs, or other integrated circuits.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, verification, and manufacturing to understand product requirements and develop comprehensive validation strategies.
  3. Conduct various validation tests on silicon prototypes and pre-production samples to identify and diagnose functional issues, performance bottlenecks, and reliability concerns.
  4. Utilize lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other test instruments to perform electrical characterization, signal integrity analysis, and performance benchmarking.
  5. Document test procedures, results, and findings in detailed engineering reports and contribute to the continuous improvement of validation methodologies.
  6. Assist in debugging and troubleshooting silicon issues, working closely with design and verification engineers to implement effective solutions.
  7. Contribute to the development and enhancement of automated test frameworks and validation scripts to streamline the validation process and improve efficiency.
  8. Stay updated on the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in silicon validation, and actively participate in knowledge sharing sessions within the team.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, semiconductor devices, and computer architecture principles.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and measurement techniques for silicon validation, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or scripting languages for test automation and data analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the field of silicon validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or coursework experience in silicon validation, semiconductor testing, or related areas.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard protocols and interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet, or MIPI.
  • Experience with FPGA prototyping, emulation, or simulation tools for pre-silicon validation.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and version control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis techniques for data interpretation and validation result validation.
