Senior Manager, Web Engineering
Renesas is seeking a Senior Manager, Web Engineering to lead the organization responsible for building, operating, and improving Renesas.com and related digital platforms. This role manages a global team of approximately 30 full-time employees and contractors across development, QA, infrastructure, production operations, and emerging AI-enabled web initiatives.
This is a senior technical leadership role for someone with the depth to understand complex engineering decisions and the desire to lead through strategy, team design, operating discipline, and cross-functional influence. The ideal candidate is highly technical, but does not need to personally own every implementation detail. They should be able to evaluate tradeoffs, set direction, build trust, and ensure the right technical decisions are being made.
The role reports to the Director of Web and Tech Docs at Renesas and requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to translate business and technical needs into clear priorities, scalable plans, and credible recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Web Engineering organization across development, QA, infrastructure, production operations, contractors, and related technical delivery functions.
- Manage and develop a global team of approximately 30 full-time employees and contractors, including expectations, coaching, accountability, resource planning, and delivery quality.
- Own engineering delivery for Renesas.com and related platforms, ensuring work is prioritized, planned, built, tested, released, and supported effectively.
- Set technical direction and operating rhythms for planning, prioritization, release coordination, QA, infrastructure reliability, production support, and leadership reporting.
- Drive practical adoption of AI-enabled tools, workflows, and engineering practices that improve productivity, automation, software quality, content delivery, search experience, and site performance.
- Partner with product management, content management, digital marketing, technical documentation, IT, security, analytics, and business stakeholders to align web engineering priorities with company goals.
- Identify risks, blockers, technical debt, resource constraints, and prioritization conflicts early, then communicate clear options and recommendations.
- Create concise, executive-ready updates that make progress, risks, tradeoffs, decisions, and next steps easy to understand.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in web engineering, software development, technical delivery, infrastructure, QA, or related technology leadership roles, including 5+ years managing engineering teams, technical leads, contractors, or similar technical organizations.
- Strong technical judgment across modern web development, platform architecture, infrastructure, QA, release management, and production support.
- Experience leading web engineering teams that support both CMS-based platforms and newer services, applications, APIs, or front-end experiences built outside the core CMS.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted technical leader who can make strategic recommendations, evaluate risks and tradeoffs, and guide the team without needing to personally own every implementation detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly, align stakeholders, simplify ambiguity, and communicate decisions with confidence and credibility.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, follow-through, accountability, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Drupal expertise or significant experience leading Drupal-based enterprise web platforms, especially in mixed environments that also include modern front-end frameworks, APIs, cloud services, and non-Drupal applications.
- Experience supporting AI, automation, developer productivity, AI-assisted development, or AI-enabled workflow initiatives.
- Experience with modern web infrastructure and delivery platforms, including AWS servers, Cloudflare, HTMX, Neon, Vercel, GitHub, and related cloud, hosting, deployment, and developer tooling environments.
- Experience in B2B, semiconductor, enterprise technology, web platforms, digital marketing, or globally distributed team environments.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, hybrid delivery models, prioritization frameworks, operating models, or portfolio-level reporting.

- Development, QA, infrastructure, production, product, and AI stakeholders are aligned around clear ownership, disciplined follow-through, and fewer ownership gaps.
- AI initiatives are connected to practical engineering outcomes and scalable operating processes.
