Senior Staff Application Engineer


Job Description

As an Applications Engineer, you will drive technical excellence for our high-reliability analog portfolio in the space market. You will bridge the gap between product development and customer implementation, ensuring our hardware meets the rigorous demands of orbit.

Responsibilities:

  • New Product Development: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to define, characterize, and launch new products to market.

  • Strategic Customer Support: Partner with Sales/Marketing to refine customer requirements into product features and support system-level hardware integration.

  • Industry Presence: Represent the company as a technical presenter at global industry conventions.

Core Functions:

  • Device Characterization (50%): Perform lab-based bench testing, create validation plans, and replicate customer environments to solve complex hardware issues.

  • Documentation (20%): Author and edit high-quality Data Sheets (FrameMaker), Technical Briefs, and Application Notes.

  • Customer Enablement (20%): Facilitate product design-ins, analyze field returns, and train Field Application Engineers (FAEs) on new systems.

  • New Product Definition (10%):  Work with Marketing, Customer, Design and Product engineering teams to help define new products.

Supported Technologies: Precision Op-amps, Instrumentation Amps, Voltage References, Precision ADCs, BMS, Analog Switches/Muxes, Current Sources/Drivers, Isolators, and Serial Interfaces (RS-422, CANBUS, I2C).


Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Experience: 7+ Years in Applications and/or Systems Engineering role in Analog IC Development or Circuit Design Industry
  • Proficient with analog and mixed signal designs
  • Proficient with electronic bench lab equipment (power supplies, function generators, multi-meters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience in Schematic/Layout design tools and switching power supply layout concepts.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point).
  • Experience writing programming code (i.e. Python) to automate lab bench equipment in GBIP/USB communication a plus.
  • Experience modeling circuits (SPICE and or IBIS) is desired but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Power management topologies: isolated and non-isolated a plus.
  • Knowledge of PMBUS/I2C/SPI communication protocols are a plus.
  • Power Management (DC-DC or AC-DC Regulation) experience a plus.
