Job Overview

The Automotive High Performance Compute (HPC) team is seeking an experienced System on Chip (SoC) SW Program Manager to take accountability for the execution of the System SW for our next-gen family of SoC products.

Accountability scope for SW components includes embedded drivers, middleware, reference application software and SW tools for ADAS, IVI, Fusion, and other automotive applications.

Accountability scope for SW process scope includes: SW development, unit and integration test, system integration, final test, handover from development teams to business unit teams, detailed (L2) customer communications with lead SoC customers, sprint planning, overall budget management and analysis, reporting to executive management on a regular basis, and holding a broad and international SW team accountability for their timely and quality execution.

This position is a great opportunity to take ownership of the SW required for a key automotive SoC product. This position requires leadership of cross functional teams including SW, Systems, and occasionally HW, as well as strong customer and internal executive leadership is expected. Program is composed of project teams who are distributed globally including Japan, India, Vietnam, and United States. This is a high-level individual contributor position, which requires the candidate to influence and lead a global team from a position of accountability and not solid line leadership.

Tasks include:

  • (a) detailed participation in Agile sprint planning for regular sprints,
  • (b) prioritization of SW component development in collaboration with the business unit,
  • (c) ensuring quality handover of requirements and other assets including POC/demo SW to development teams,
  • (d) regular (daily) alignment with development leaders and development teams during,
  • (e) detailed understanding of SW testing results at component and integration level,
  • (f) ensuring quality handover of SW to System Validation CI/CD test team,
  • (g) direct contribution to SW communications for all priority customers,
  • (h) regular and detailed communication on SW progress at detailed level (sprint progress, test status, etc…) and overall view (roadmap execution, customer milestone alignment)
  • (i) channeling escalations both from SW development team and business unit to leadership
  • (j) participation in regular executive review on SW progress (PDTs, other process events)
  • (k) creation of various SW focused material suitable for use by: internal working level teams and executives, customers, and SW related partners
  • (l) strong support of budget and scope planning as part of the official Renesas development process

Principle Accountabilities

  • Complete ownership and accountability for the given programs with strong exposure to executive leadership from Renesas, our customers, and our key partners
  • Create and manage SW business plan and SW program budget with strong support from contributing project teams (HW, SW, AI, marketing)
  • Establish, drive, and maintain the overall SW program plan including regular program reporting to both internal and external teams
  • Define all milestones and track on a regular basis. Highlight issues and build options for mitigation/resolution. Ensure risk analysis is complete and maintained including options and trigger dates.
  • Organize and hold regular SW Program Development Team meetings. Create regular data driven updates for internal and external consumers
  • Lead cross functional teams across multiple locations to deliver the program.
  • Maintain program budgets and highlight changes against the plan.
  • Keep alignment with Device Program Manager who holds accountability for the SoC devices and platforms, of which SW is a sub-function

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing large multi-disciplined global SoC product delivery team
  • 10+ years experience of successfully program managing complex SoC SW products and delivering high quality platforms to customers
  • 10+ years experience in the SoC SW development environment with focus on SW component development through the complete lifecycle
  • Strong working level exposure to SoC SW elements such as: OS (Linux, Android, QNX), Tooling (debugging, simulation and emulation systems), and SW stacks for IVI or ADAS applications
  • Strong experience with customer communication
  • Strong experience managing multi-national teams across timezones and native languages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address customer’s expectation.
  • Strives for continual improvement in all aspects of work including policies and methodology. · Collaborating with senior and executive leadership to develop team objectives in accordance with wider company strategy.
  • Strong collaboration with engineering, business, and other teams to identify process and efficiency gaps and propose changes to address them
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English.
  • Ability to propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
